Biography & Contact Info
Biography:

Ann's been around for a while and has had a lovely varied career.  She earned her 3 degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  She's taught college students, she's taught young children and teens.  She's given piano recitals and done research on really interesting topics: the Renaissance composer Francesco Corteccia (for her Ph.D.), the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, and the Golliwog, star of Debussy's piano piece. She's taught courses in Music Theory, Counterpoint, Music History, American Music, Opera, American Opera, and even the Middle Ages segment of The History of Ideas sequence, offered by her college.

She's traveled for the joy of seeing new places and also to follow in the footsteps of favorite compoers like the French Debussy and the Czech Dvorak.  Most people don't know that in 1893 Dvorak spend a happy summer in the little town of Spillville, Iowa; to commemorate his visit there was a big celebration in the summer of 1993, attended by his grandson and great-grandson.  (Dr. McKinley was there, too!  She gave a little talk on Dvorak's visit to Chicago to take in the sights of the Columbian Exposition.)

Look on-line for 2 of her piano pieces published by Schaum: "Grease Paint Gertie" and "Baby Dinosaur Rag".  For recorder music look on-line for pieces published by The American Recorder Society.  Other pieces by her have been self-published.  She uses FINALE to make the pages look nice.
