Madelene Millner's Bio
Madelene Millner
BA Fine Arts,
Roosevelt
University
My art is mainly about color; the intensity of color, the subtlety of color and the proximity of one color to another. My palette is fairly bright - with yellows and reds and perhaps bright pink, but not ignoring cooler tones. My identity is closely related to my artistic expression. My subjects have been largely women - big women at that. The figures have enlarged arms and legs and are decorated with richly patterned clothing. I feature the large woman who is comforting and loving as opposed to the strictly shapely thin woman. My Mother was a large woman. Frequently, I present cats with the women integrating more comfort and serenity into each piece. Lately I have created mountain landscapes from photographs of
Colorado
Mountains by John Fielder. Thematically, I see the beauty and serenity in portraying my landscape interpretations like the Women and Felines.
